Everybody is invited to an event later this month to celebrate the retirement of five Guthrie Center Community School District employees.

Curriculum Director Judy Bauler, maintenance worker Mike Willenborg, reading teacher Linda Powell and math teacher Sharon Wessling are retiring after this school year. High School Principal Gerald Thomas is retiring in December.

A community retirement celebration will take place Wednesday, May 25th from 5-7 p.m. at the high school track. A free-will offering supper will be served with proceeds going to support Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) activities in the district.

Additionally, anyone is welcome to make cards for the retirees. Send cards to:  B. Mills,  906 School St. Guthrie Center, IA  50115  Note on the back side of the envelope who the card is for and they will be gathered and presented to the retirees.  If you want to bring your card to their celebration, you are more than welcome to do that.
