A West Central Valley middle school class has received a grant to honor the family of a former teacher.
Language Arts teacher Hanna Wilson applied for a ‘Project Jack’ grant from the Realtor Foundation of Iowa in February. The grant is named after Jack Lindaman, from Illinois, who passed away at the age of 6, in 2010, from spinal muscular atrophy.
Wilson’s class received a $250 grant that they are using to honor the family of a former teacher. Christy Readout was a special education teacher in the district from 2012-2015 and gave birth to premature twins, Luke and Landry, in September 2015. The babies spent 15 and 19 days in neonatal intensive care, but Readout says during their time in NICU, the March of Dimes made them feel at home.
The $250 grant from Wilson’s class will benefit the Readout Twin walk team during the March of Dimes’ March for Babies event in Ankeny on May 7th.
