A unique opportunity for youth to turn something old into something new will be offered at the Jefferson Public Library tomorrow.
Second through eighth graders are invited to an “Altered Book Journals” activity where youth can take older books and other materials and create a one-of-a-kind, personalized journal.
“It’s such a neat way to recycle books. We want to stress the importance of reading with children. But we also want to, in keeping with our theme ‘Libraries Transform’ change the books from something that is maybe going to be discarded to something that is new, and different and exciting for them.”
That was Children’s Librarian Terry Clark. The free event will be from 4 to 5:30pm on Thursday in the library basement meeting room. No pre-registration is necessary.
