St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and School held their annual auction this past weekend and organizers say it was a great success all around.

Monica Peitz says emcee Brett Roberts and auctioneer Tom Burkgren engaged the audience with lots of humor throughout the evening.  She says final numbers are still being counted but they brought in an around $14,000 in proceeds Saturday.

“All the money goes into the church fund to help support the various services of the church, and of course our school.  We have a small catholic school we are very proud of and feel is a very good draw for the community. I think that’s why we get such generous donations from the businesses in town because they realize a catholic school can be a draw for this community.  Families may choose to move here because catholic school is an option for education.”

Some of the high ticket items at the event included a $1,000 certificate for home décor by Alice’s Haus Dresin, a taco and torta dinner for 30 people and a meal for 20 at The Cellar at La Poste.

In addition to the auction, Dan and Sally Spellman were also recognized as the Charles O’Malley Award recipients.  Peitz says they were chosen for the honor based on their years of volunteer services at St. Pat’s School.  The award is named for one of the school’s benefactors and son of founder Nora O’Malley.
