A Menlo man is facing several charges after allegedly lying to law enforcement about his vehicle being stolen.
Adair County Sheriff Jeff Vandewater says 32-year-old Patrick Nolte told authorities that his vehicle had been stolen, when he had lost control and drove it into a creek 1/8th of a mile east of 190th Street and Victor Avenue on Wednesday.
That day, Nolte also allegedly beat a woman outside of a witness’s home in the 1200 block of Riverside Avenue. The victim told deputies that Nolte tackled her and put her in a headlock, causing damage to her face.
He was arrested that day and faces a felony charge of his third offense for domestic abuse assault and misdemeanor charges of driving while barred and making a false report to a public entity.
Nolte was transported to the Adair County jail and held on $5,000 bond.
