A Jefferson woman was injured in a fatal head-on collision Monday in Carroll County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, 23 year-old Kera Ann Shriver of Jefferson was traveling south on Highway 71, south of 180th Street, shortly before 2pm Monday when her 2010 Chevrolet Malibu collided head-on with a northbound 2009 Honda Civic, that was driven by 39 year-old Debra Kay Clausen of Carroll.

Both Shriver and Clausen were taken to St. Anthony’s Regional Hospital by Carroll County Emergency Medical Services with injuries, the extent of which is unknown at this time. 56 year-old Carol Jane Roetker of Carroll was a passenger in Clausen’s vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The report shows that all three were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident.

Carroll County Sheriff’s office assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.
