The Perry Chamber’s most successful fireworks drive to date continues.
After adding in totals from the grocery store roundup this past week, Executive Director Bob Wilson says they’ve raised around $13,500.
The Perry Fareway earned bragging rights in the first roundup competition, raising $2,250 for the 4th of July fireworks.
Wilson says they set a big goal this year of $15,000 and thanks to various efforts they’re getting close.
“I cannot thank Fareway and Hy-Vee enough for putting this together and helping us out this whole way. Obviously (Raccoon Valley) Radio has been a huge part of this fireworks drive, as well as your donations from private individuals, businesses and everything. So there’s still opportunities, we still need the money. Stop by the Chamber and drop a check off, we’re never going to turn it down. All of it goes to your 4th of July fireworks. If you want a bigger show, bring in the money.”
Wilson says he plans to order the fireworks yet this month as the Chamber gets a discount for ordering early.
