dallas-county3The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

At the meeting the Board approved right of way easement purchase agreement for approximately one-tenth of an acre of land from Kurt and Katherine Heiden at a cost of $1,044.

An archeological services consultant agreement with Tallgrass Historians was then approved for the Historic Dayton Stagecoach Inn.  The Dallas County Historic Preservation Commission will pay the contractor approximately $14,000 for services and expense reimbursement, at a rate of $70 per hour.  This is a step in getting the building on the National Register of Historic Places.

A services contract with Finestead Enterprises Inc. was then approved for the 2017 fiscal year.  Finestead will be paid $78 for each individual building inspection.

The Supervisors then discussed the Waukee recycling site.  Environmental Health Director Ted Truwin says this has been an issue for the City of Waukee for some time, due in part to wind.  Waukee has given the County an ultimatum of setting up a 20 yard container or eliminating the site.  Truwin recommended just using the Ortonville recycling site moving forward and continuing to monitor the other sites, the Board agreed.

The Board then approved an amendment to the official depositories as presented, adding another financial institution to the list.

Architect Jerry Purdy with Design Alliance then shared an update on the north campus.  A pre-construction meeting is set for Thursday in regards to the emergency management portion of the campus.  The Board also reviewed proposed plans for the 902 Court Street building.  With space freed up due to departments moving to the north campus, the Board is looking at renovation options to make the most out of the space available.  Though no formal action was taken.

The Board then discussed and approved a letter of support to House Speaker Linda Upmeyer in regards to mental health.  Though the item was not on the Board’s agenda, Chairman Mark Hanson said it was brought up in the meeting so that they can remain transparent and up front.  He says they consciously do things in public during regular meetings so they are doing so legally, as two members speaking to each other about business outside of a meeting would be a quorum with a three person Board.

Finally, the Supervisors went into a closed session to discuss pending litigation.
