The weather Tuesday was great for the make up date of the Greene County Ram Relays at Linduska Field in Jefferson. As a result there were several outstanding performances including four meet records, all set by Boone, two for girls and two for boys. Boone standout sprinter Dianna Slight set a meet mark in the 200 meter dash at 25.22 seconds and in the 400 at 56.60. Boone’s 4 x 100 meter relay set a boys’ meet record in :43.96 and the 4 x 200 meter relay for boys set a meet record at 1:30.02.
Greene County girls had a first place finish in the high jump from Megan Durbin at 5′ 5″, a career best, and also tying for the highest jump by an Iowa high school girl this season. Chantel Flack won the 800 meter run in 2:36.81, Kenna Marquardt was the discus winner at 114′ 7″, with the Rams winning the sprint medley relay in 1:57.37 and the distance medley relay in 4:48.97. Running in the sprint med were Melanie Doran, Laurin Lyons, Durbin, and Olivia Hansen. Doran, Lyons, Hansen, and Flack teamed up to win the distance medley.
The Greene County b0ys had a first place finish in the 400 meter low hurdles from Daric Whipple in :56.14 for their lone victory.
Perry’s boys had a win in the 400 meter dash from Adan Medina in :52.60 and the Blue Jays won the 4 x 800 meter relay in 8:53.66 with Kaleb Olejniczak, Alex Long, Zachary Thompson, and Jacob Thompson.
The Perry girls won three events. Grace Stewart won the 1,500 meter run in 5:37.55, and the 3,000 meter run in 12:08.30. The Jayettes also won the 4 x 800 in 10:40.42 with Emma Olejniczak, Sidney Vancil, Breanna Penenger, and Haileigh Kenyon.
Boone won the girls’ team title with 192 points and Greene County was second at 111. Carroll had 97 with Perry at 75, East Sac County 67, and 35 for Kuemper Catholic.
The Carroll boys won with 117 points to 111 for Boone. The Rams were third with 58, followed by Perry at 53, and 35 for Kuemper Catholic.
