The City of Perry is starting the 2016 asphalt overlay project today.
Nearly 45 blocks of city streets will be resurfaced in the next few weeks. Manatts Inc out of Brooklyn, Iowa has been contracted for the project. They will start with the eastern potion of the city and then move west. Residents can expect some minor disruptions to traffic during the project but this should be limited to the daytime hours only and crews will be placing door hangers on homes in advance of the project.
All motorists are asked to be respectful to the workers and avoid the construction areas as much as possible.
The $850,000 project is being funded through the City’s one cent Local Option Sales Tax and the new 10 cent fuel tax that was approved by the legislature last year.
The overlay project is expected to be completed within two weeks.
