It was a gorgeous night for track and field Thursday as Perry High School hosted the annual Bluejay and Jayette Relays at the Jim Kaufman track. The Perry boys placed 5th out of 6 teams with a total of 75 points. Carroll earned the top spot for the second time this year with 121, followed by Boone’s 115. Grinnell (107), Norwalk (94) and Kuemper Catholic (38) rounded out the 6 team field.
The Perry strength this season has been both the 4×400 and the 1600 medley and each earned 1st place honors again last night. The 4×400 (Adan Medina, Alexis Garrido, Rashon Ivory, Jacob Thompson) set a season best time of 3:36:08 and the 1600 medley (Ivory, Nic Fellom, Kaleb Olejniczak, Zach Thompson) set a season best time of 4:00.06.
Reese Dunlap placed 3rd in both the 100 and 200 meter runs. Medina took 2nd in the 400 with a time of 53.6 seconds. Shammond Ivory earned 2nd place in the long jump with a leap of 18 8 ¾.
