Both Greene County High School track & field teams placed fourth on Monday in Carroll at the Carroll Coed track & field meet. This report centers on the girls’ team. Details on the Greene County boys’ team can be found elsewhere in Sports on www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.

Coach Kelly Simpson’s Rams won three events and placed second in two others. Placing first were sophomore Megan Durbin in the high jump with a a season best leap of 5′ 3″, Durbin in the 200 meter dash in :27.91, and junior Kenna Marquardt in the discus throw at 102′ 4″. The second place events were the distance medley relay of Melanie Doran-Durbin-Olivia Hansen-Chantel Flack in 4:43.49, and the 4 x 100 meter relay of Doran-Hansen-Laurin Lyons-Durbin in 55.66 seconds.

Carroll won the team title with 133.5 points and IKM-Manning was second at 90.5. Roland-Story (Story City) was third at 82.00, just ahead of the 80 points scored by the Rams. Maple Valley-Anthon-Oto had 75 with 50 for Perry, 46 from Audubon, and 25 points for Woodward-Granger.

The Greene County girls go to Perry on Thursday, April 14.
