Professional Learning Coaches (PLC’s) from Panorama Elementary have recently begun working with faculty from another district to improve learning locally.

 

PLC’s Amy Block, Joan Fredrickson and Kelly Nunn recently hosted teachers from the Pella Community School District to learn more about Singaporean Pedagogy, a concept utilized in elementary math curriculum.

 

Soon, teams of teachers from Panorama will travel to Pella to further observe the teaching strategies and increase conceptual understanding.

The partnership will last through early fall.

The Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center School Boards met jointly Thursday night at Adair-Casey High School.

Upon a recommendation of a student committee representing both districts, both School Boards unanimously approved the name, mascot, colors and school song of a shared school district which will be created on July 1st.

The school name will be AC/GC, the mascot is Chargers, the colors are black and gold and the school song is “Mighty Oregon”, the fight song of the University of Oregon Ducks. District music teachers will modify the lyrics of the fight song to fit the AC/GC Chargers.

A group of twelve students in attendance told the Boards how excited they were to make friends with and play sports with their new classmates, beginning next school year.

The Panora Chamber of Commerce has unveiled an event to raise money for the 2016 Panorama Days celebration held in August.

 

President Brandon Schreiber says the Panora Chamber Golf Tournament will raise money through team registrations and hole sponsorships. Teams of four players are being assembled at $60 per player, or $240 for the team, which includes green fees, golf cart rental, range balls, dinner and prizes. Mulligans can also be purchased for $5 a piece, or five for $20.

 

Additionally, hole sponsorships are available for $75 and offer businesses the opportunity to promote themselves at their sponsored tee box.

The list of primary election county candidates in Guthrie County has been finalized and there is just one contested race.

 

According to the County Auditor’s office, District 1 Supervisor Jerry Caraher is running unopposed in the Democratic primary, but will face a challenge in the general election from Jim Carroll, Jerri Christman and Jack Lloyd, who will all be competing in the Republican primary.

 

Sheriff Marty Arganbright is running unopposed both in the Democratic primary and general election.

 

Marci McClellan is running unopposed for County Auditor in the Republican primary and general election.

District 5 Supervisor Michael Dickson is running unopposed in the Republican primary and general election.
