Greene County was eighth among twelve teams on Friday night at the Winterset Husky boys’ track and field meet. This was the second outdoor meet of the young season for the Rams, but the first one where team score was kept. Carlisle won the meet with 99 points, followed by Winterset with 78, Earlham 58, Mount Ayr 57, Nevada 50, Norwalk 48, ADM (Adel) 43, Greene County 37, Nodaway Valley (Greenfield) 33, Creston 27, Clarke (Oseola) 20, Martensdale-St. Mary’s 8.
Ram senior sprinter Max Neese had a second straight big night on the track. Neese collected the lone first place finish for the Rams by winning the 200 meter dash in 23.2 seconds, and he was second in the 100 at 11.2. Senior Daric Whipple was second in the 400 meter low hurdles in 57.3 seconds and senior Matthew Gordon had the top finish for the Rams in the field events by placing third in the shot put at 40′ 11″.
Next on the schedule is the Kip Janvrin Panorama Relays in Panora on Tuesday, April 5. This is a coed meet with both the Greene County girls and boys taking part. Some schedules have the date as April 4, but it was moved to April 5.
