There are several meetings coming up for Greene County 4-H’ers.
The Beef Project meeting will take place on Dax Lautner’s farm at 4pm on Sunday, April 3rd. Pizza will be served following the meeting.
Tuesday, April 5th will be two meetings with the rabbit and poultry group to meet at 5pm at the Greene County Extension office in Jefferson, followed by the new birds and bunnies program. Extension Director Lori Mannel says the new program is for first through third graders.
“So this is just an introductory program that you’re able to attend some meetings, show at the (county) fair (and) be a big kid just like your sibling, cousin or friend.”
Mannel says another great program is the market lamb barn community.
“The goal is to have market lambs available for all Greene County youth, that are in 4-H (and) who have an interest in livestock (and) are either lacking the facilities or adult supervision (to raise the animal).”
The Greene County Community Foundation recently gave $1,000 to continue the program.
