The Perry track teams competed in their first outdoor competition of the year last night with the 9th annual running of the Gail Davis Relays in Perry. The Perry boys placed 2nd with 120 points, trailing front runner Carroll with 173. The Jayettes placed 5th with 78 points as Panorama won the team title with an impressive 143 points.
Reece Dunlap provided the spark for Perry in the individual events winning both the 100 and 200 meter dash. Dunlap was clocked in 11.05 in the 100 and 24.05 in the 200. The Perry 4×400 relay captured first place as well with Marcus Meri, Jacob Thomspon, Rashon Ivory and Alexis Garrido winning with a time of 3:40.39.
Perry placed 2nd in four other relays. The Shuttle Hurdle (Garrido, Beau Briles, Malachi Meri and Brandon Kenyon), 4×100 (Donald Chavez, Nic Fellom, Eli Saemisch, Dunlap), 4×200 (Medina, Thompson, Meri, Fellom) and 4×800 (J.Thompson, Zach Thompson, Bradley Godwin, Alex Long).
A pair of Jayette relays highlighted the girls performance. The 4×800 placed 2nd with a time of 11″02.64. Sidney Vancil, Breanna Penenger, Emma Olejniczak and Mariah Duffy comprised the Jayette squad. The Distance Medley with Vancil, Duffy, Taylor Lathrum and Haileigh Kenyon placed 2nd as well.
Lathrum took runner up honors in the shot put with a toss of 33’5.
