As we’ve reported, this week is designated as Severe Weather Awareness Week.
Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf says as we enter into the severe weather season, it’s important to remember and plan for the many local weather events that can cause injury or destruction. “There’s all kinds of severe weather, we’ve got thunderstorms, hail, lightning, tornadoes, straight line winds and more. We have a lot of different types of weather that affect us here in Iowa and each of them brings an inherent danger of a different type, so it’s important to know what to do and have something in your plan for all kinds of weather.”
Anytime severe weather affects Dallas, Greene or Guthrie counties, you can count on the Raccoon Valley Radio Severe Weather Action Team to bring you live coverage until the storm weakens below severe levels or moves out of the area.
