population changeDallas County continues to be the fastest growing county in the state.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, nearly one-third of Iowa counties have grown in population since 2010 but none as fast as Dallas County.

Since the last census, Dallas County’s population has increased by 21.2 percent and since 1990 the county has population has surged 169 percent.

These estimates come to the State Data Center from reported births, deaths, domestic migration and international migration.

Dallas County’s population is estimated at 80,133 people as of July 1, 2015.

Meanwhile, both Greene and Guthrie counties have experienced a decrease in population since 2010.  Estimates show Greene County lost 3.3% of its people for a total population of around 9,027 and Guthrie County lost 2.5% for a total of 10,676 people.

According to the State Data Center, more than half of the total state population resides in 10 of the 99 counties.
