Following a recent incident in the Greene County School District where an individual gain access to one of the buildings and bypassed checking into the main office, the School Board is considering implementing new equipment.
Superintendent Tim Christensen says the Board is looking at installing a security camera and buzzer system on one door in each of the buildings in the district. It would allow all of the main entry doors to be locked during the day. The office personnel would see the individual and buzz them in to gain access to a building. Currently, only one door is unlocked at each of the five buildings.
The Board is working on cost estimates and plans to make a decision in their April meeting.
Christensen notes that the district is making changes to tighten visitor access by requiring all visitors to sign in at the office and wear visitor badges. He says he is taking the situation very seriously and apologizes to anyone who felt there were comments made that would have given the impression that he felt otherwise.
