The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.
At the meeting, payroll change notices for the sheriff’s office and conservation department were approved as presented. The Board then voted to withdraw from a 28E agreement with Central Iowa Recovery. The resolution would have opened up a $150,000 line of credit for the CIR, with the County taking on 1/9th of the responsibility of the credit in the event that CIR defaults. Mental Health Director Darci Alt says by not approving the agreement the County will still be able to receive Intensive Psychiatric Rehabilitation services from CIR but will no longer be a voting member of the Board.
The Supervisors then held a public hearing in regards to non-current debt for drainage district six. The district is in need of repair and currently has insufficient funds for the project. Therefore, the Board approved the authorization of $621,776 in non-current debt, which will be paid back over 10 years. A payment request to McClure Engineering in the amount of $162,900 for the drainage district six project was then approved.
The fourth lease amendment for the 918 Court Street property was then discussed. Supervisor Kim Chapman says the owner of the property is very willing to enter into this amendment which would extend the lease through the end of April 2017. The County will pay the owner, Ambergris LLC out of Cedar Rapids, $2,725 per month in rent. Dallas County has leased this property since May 1998.
A space planning workshop was then held. Architect Jerry Purdy with Design Alliance says several people attended a pre-construction meeting for the emergency management portion of the human services campus. The Board continues to consider options for the 901 Court Street building and 210 North 10th Street building, home of the former Department of Human Services offices.
