Grand Junction Comm CenterEveryone is invited to the upcoming storm spotter training in Greene County later this week.

The course is open to anyone who would like to know more about identifying and reporting severe weather, safety, climatology, along with different thunderstorm types and tornadoes. All area fire and emergency personnel, along with law enforcement and city officials are also invited to the training.

Emergency Management Coordinator Dennis Morlan says the National Weather Service (NWS) conducts storm spotter classes throughout the state. However, about four years ago, due to budgetary reasons, the NWS decided to only offer the classes in smaller counties every other year and this year it was Greene County’s turn to host one of the courses.

It will be on Thursday, March 3rd from 7 to 8:30pm at the Grand Junction Community Center. There is no pre-registration required and it is free and open to the public.
