Although a whole-grade sharing agreement between Adair-Casey and Guthrie Center is intended to provide the best possible learning environments for students of both districts, the deal leaves only a finite amount of teaching positions.
Superintendent Steve Smith says there are some duplicate positions at the middle and high school level that will leave some faculty members without a job after this school year. Smith says administration and both school boards continue to figure out staff roles for next school year. “We actually hope to have all of the academic teaching staff filled and everyone knowing what they are going to be doing by the end of March.”
Smith adds that even if some faculty don’t make the cut, they will still have time to find work in a different district. “Both March and April are heavy months for educators to start making moves.”
