Last season the ADM boys basketball team had what the vast majority of the sports world would call a “rebuilding season”, as the Tigers hit just three wins. That coming off of a 6 win season the year prior.
What at first glance looked like another long rebuilding season turned into a stellar season ending with a share of the Raccoon River Conference crown. All that thanks in part to four key additions in newcomers Payton Conrad, Tajen Ross, Jared Sapp, and Cole Knoll who added to the existing talent of Matt Larson and Jacob Hardy among others. The Tigers saw their offensive production increase dramatically as their points per game shot up from no higher than averaging 56 points per contest in the prior two seasons, to 67 points per game at the end of the 2015-16 season. The Tigers did however, hold a points per game average over 70 for 15 games worth this season.
The trio of Larson, Conrad, and Ross led the scoring attack for the Tigers this season. Ross ended the season as the top scorer with 349 points and a 15.9 points per game average, while Larson and Conrad practically tied for second in scoring. Larson edged out Conrad for the second spot with 280 points and a 12.7 points per game average while Conrad notched 277 points on the season earning a 12.6 points per game average.
Knoll added a multi-use talent to the Tigers squad and could often be see guarding the opponents top scorer, all while he tied for first on the team in rebounding on the season at 109 rebounds.
The Tigers as a whole improved their 2014-15 FG% up 38.4% to 44.8% with their biggest improvement coming from the free throw line as ADM increased their FT% from 55% to 66%.
Seniors that will be leaving for the Tigers would be Ian Lafollette, Blake Crannell, Cody Hokel, Frank Weiland, Blake Kuper, Joey Harrison, and future Drake football star Jacob Hardy.
The Tigers ended the season as co-champions of the Raccoon River Conference with a final record of 13-9.
