The Perry High School band invites everyone to join them for a special concert with one of the top collegiate bands in the region tonight.
The Iowa State University Wind Ensemble will perform a joint concert with the local high school band this evening.
Perry Band Director Brandon Weeks says it’s an incredible opportunity for both the students and the public.
“They’re probably one of the best bands in the Midwest, certainly one of the best bands in our state, up there with some of the other major universities. We’re very lucky to have them. To get to expose our students to that level of musicianship and just quality of performance. So we’ll perform a couple pieces and then our students also have the opportunity to play a piece together with that group. And of course I’m looking forward to the chance to direct that group. It’s like being handed the keys to a Mercedes when you’re used to driving another car. It’s a special opportunity.”
Tonight’s concert takes place at 8pm in the Perry Performing Arts Center. It’s free and open to the public.
