guthrie county sheriff UPDATE TO ORIGINAL STORY FROM 4:21 P.M.

A Panora woman is facing charges after allegedly running through a stop sign and t-boning a Guthrie County Sheriff’s office vehicle Tuesday, just after 3 p.m., near Bagley.

Iowa State Patrol Sergeant Nathan Ludwig tells Raccoon Valley Radio that a 2004 Hyundai Elantra driven by 20-year-old Kylee Sheeder, of Panora, was traveling southbound on Quail Road, when she failed to obey a stop sign and collided with the driver’s side doors of a 2015 Chevy Tahoe patrol vehicle being driven by Deputy Kent Gries, who was heading eastbound on Highway 141. Gries’ vehicle spun into the ditch, Sheeder’s came to rest on the road.

Sheeder was uninjured and refused medical care. Gries was transported to Guthrie County Hospital with minor injuries. Gries tells Raccoon Valley Radio he’s in good shape after the crash and looks forward to getting back to work serving the citizens of Guthrie County.

Sheeder was cited for failing to obey a stop sign and not wearing a seatbelt. Sheeder told authorities she had no recollection of disobeying the stop sign, but the incident was captured on Gries’ dash cam.

Both vehicles were disabled after the crash and had to be towed from the scene.

Raccoon Valley Radio will bring you more information as it becomes official.
