The Jefferson Matters: Main Street Design Committee teamed up with the City of Jefferson to create design guidelines for the downtown area businesses to use.
JMMS Program Director Peg Raney says the guidelines are just that, a set of suggestions for building owners in the downtown district to consider when they want to renovate their structures. But they would like the buildings to keep their historic integrity, since the goal of JMMS is the historic preservation of the downtown district.
“We’re not looking for the ‘mall look’ at all, we’re looking for individuality. They don’t want signage to be all the same or everybody has to have the same colors like in a housing development.
