As we reported in late November, the Guthrie County Sheriff’s office was awarded a $100,000 E911 grant to make improvements to their communications tower and dispatch center.
Sheriff Marty Arganbright says many of the parts for the improvements have already been ordered and will likely be installed sometime in March. “I’ve talked to the company that’s going to install this. They’ve ordered the equipment and I think they’ve got some of the equipment in. They need all of the equipment to start on this, because it’s crucial that when you’re messing with 9-1-1 service, you need to do it as quickly as possible, so it is important that we have all of it here before we do that.”
Arganbright adds the new equipment will offer better service to residents and provide nicer working conditions for dispatchers. “It will improve the equipment here that is getting some age. It goes down every once in awhile and everything absolutely needs to be working here all of the time. The only way to make that better is to get new equipment.”
The improvements are being made at no cost to Guthrie County taxpayers.
