GREENE COUNTY SHERIFFS OFFICE NEWS REPORT

February 15th, 2016 through February 21st, 2016

2/15       11:46 am, a deputy assisted a Probation Officer with locating a female in Rippey and transporting her to the Greene County Law Enforcement Center to be picked up by Story County officials on their outstanding warrant.

5:26 pm, a deputy and a Jefferson Police Officer responded to a reported domestic altercation between a couple standing outside their vehicle on 225th Street, just east of Jefferson. The altercation was resolved without incident.

2/16       6:23 am, a deputy was dispatched to the 500 block of D Avenue to remove a deer carcass from the traveled portion of the road.

11:50 am, a deputy checked a vehicle that was experiencing mechanical problems on Highway 25 near 270th Street.

12:54 pm, the Sheriff’s Office provided traffic control for a vehicle that had pulled off the roadway and become stuck on Neola Avenue and 280th Street.

2/17       9:34 pm, a deputy and a Jefferson Police Officer assisted Greene County EMS with a medical call on Highway 30 near Hillcrest Avenue for a vehicle driver that was experiencing a severe  medical condition.

2/18       1:51 pm, a deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with a call in Jefferson.

5:27 pm, a deputy was dispatched to Churdan to investigate a reported assault in the 900 block of Fitzpatrick Street. After an investigation by the deputy, a male subject was transported to the Greene County Medical Center for a mental evaluation.

2/19       2:51 am, a deputy was advised of a disabled vehicle on Highway 30 near S Avenue. The deputy checked the identity of the driver and passengers and subsequently arrested Mayja Johnson 20, of Des Moines, on an outstanding warrant from Dallas County. The deputy also issued a citation to Johnson for Driving While Suspended.

12:09 pm, a deputy spoke with a resident in the 600 block of Madison Street in Scranton regarding a child custody civil issue.

1:21 pm, a deputy was asked to deliver a message to a Greene County resident about a medical condition involving a relative.

2:59 pm, a deputy was asked to check an unoccupied vehicle that was experiencing mechanical problems in the 900 block of 230th Street.

4:00 pm, a deputy initiated a sexual assault investigation involving an out of state juvenile that occurred in Greene County.

5:06 pm, a deputy was advised of cattle on the roadway at 170th Street and I Avenue. The deputy and the owner put the cattle back into the corn stalk field.

7:43 pm, a deputy checked the welfare of a male subject in the 1000 block of Livingston Street in Churdan.

11:11 pm, a deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with arresting a male and female in the 200 block of Perry Street, in Jefferson, on outstanding warrants from Dallas County. The deputy transported the two subjects to the Greene–Dallas County line to meet a Dallas County Deputy.

2/20       4:38 pm, a deputy spoke with a resident in the 800 block of Lincoln Street in Scranton involving a personal property civil issue.

8:25 pm, a deputy responded to the 800 block of 202nd Street, after the report of the hearing possible gun shots. The deputy determined that it may have been the ignition of fireworks at a different location.

10:02 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 800 block of Main Street in Grand Junction to investigate the report of a white pickup driving erratic through town. The deputy was not able to locate the described pickup upon his arrival.

11:35 pm, a deputy assisted Greene County Emergency Medical Services personnel with a medical call for an employee at the Greene County Law Enforcement Center.

2/21       8:49 pm, a deputy checked an abandoned vehicle on B Avenue and 210th Street. A 24 hour removal tag was placed on the vehicle.

12:08 pm, a deputy was dispatched to Scranton for the report of several erratic and careless drivers in two separate vehicles. The owner of the vehicles was determined.

5:40 pm, a deputy was advised of a vehicle experiencing mechanical problems on Highway 30 near Pioneer Avenue. The owner said the vehicle would soon be removed.

6:15 pm, a deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of Irving Street in Scranton to help mediate a verbal domestic altercation. The altercation was resolved without issue.

8:29 pm, a deputy assisted Churdan Rescue with a medical call at the Greene County Medical Center. The adult male subject was evaluated for mental disorder.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
