As motorists have experienced over the past 48 hours, the only thing separating us from the slippery snow and ice-covered road is four tires.
Panora’s Leonard Automotive mechanic David Leonard says a good set of tires can make the difference between sliding into the ditch and arriving safely at your destination. “A good all-season tire for mud and snow this time of year, with the winter driving conditions, having a good set of all-season tires is important.”
For those seeking the maximum in winter traction, Leonard recommends snow tires. “The snow tires are a little bit more aggressive, specifically made to drive in the snow. They’re also a really soft compound tire, so they stick to the road a little bit better. Running those in the winter is optimal.”
