Jefferson Street Dept blowing snowRoad conditions in Greene County are making travel difficult due to ice covered roads.

The Greene County Sheriff’s office responded to eight single vehicle accidents on Tuesday, all due to slushy road conditions. Sheriff Steve Haupert says the roads this morning all completely covered with ice and there are areas of blowing snow. He recommends waiting until later today before traveling, but if you have to be on the roads, drive slowly and keep plenty of space between your vehicle and the vehicle in front of you.

Greene County Engineer Wade Weiss says they have been battling the blowing and drifting snow all morning and will continue to plow the county roads until the wind subsides and the roads are cleared.

As for the roads in Jefferson, Public Works Director Dave Morlan says the road crews were sent out Tuesday morning at 5:30am and worked until early morning Wednesday. They will be back out later today and tonight around 10pm, crews will work to remove the snow that’s left around the downtown square.
