A Jefferson man is in custody and an officer was injured while executing a search warrant on Wednesday.

Police Chief Mark Clouse says at 2:32pm, two officers and two Greene County deputies executed a search warrant at an apartment in the 300 block of North Wilson Avenue. Officers entered the apartment after no one answered the door. Police found six individuals inside and a male subject immediately ran into the bedroom and slammed the door shut.

Clouse says Sergeant Heath Enns had his firearm drawn, as per their procedure and officer safety, and tried to gain entry into the bedroom. The male allegedly began barricading the door, but Enns was able to jar it slightly open and saw a female inside the room and requested her to fully open the door. The male then hit Enns’s hand with the handle of a large Bowie knife to allegedly disarm the officer.

The male then tried to escape out of a window and officers were able to open the door and arrest him. Enns suffered minor injuries to his hand and no one else was injured in the incident. Police also recovered suspected narcotics from the apartment.

23 year-old Zakkariah Dylan-Levi Boudewyn was charged with four Class D felonies for assault on persons in certain occupations and/or use or display of a dangerous weapon, interference with official acts with a dangerous weapon, disarming a peace officer and assault on person in certain occupations and/or causing bodily injury. Boudewyn was booked and remains in the Greene County Jail under a $50,000 cash or surety bond.

Clouse adds that additional individuals are involved in the case with additional charges pending completion of the investigation.
