All adults are invited to take advantage of a couple new programs at the community center in Jefferson.
Director Vicky Lautner says there are pickup basketball games every Monday and Thursday from 6:30 to 8pm. It is free for members and $2 per game for non-members. Lautner points out that the games are half court and it is just a fun activity for adults to get involved in.
An adult racquetball league is also starting soon. It will be from January 24th through March 6th with regular season games to be played during the week. Lautner says it’s a laid back type of league.
“We’re just trying to get a little league started for them and we’re trying to make it convenient for them. The brackets will be sent out and then you just figure out with your partner who you’re playing against (and) when you can play during the week, and so you just have to get your game in during the week and then next week you’ll play somebody else.”
There is a $20 fee to join and at the end of the season, a traveling trophy will be awarded to the winners.
