The home portion of the high school wrestling season started and ended in less than a week for the Greene County Rams. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team lost to Class 1A non-conference opponents Guthrie Center and South Central Calhoun (Lake City) on Tuesday, just five days after wrestling at home in the middle school gym in Jefferson for the first time this season. The Tigers were 50-12 winners over the Rams and the Titans downed Greene County 46-11. Guthrie Center was a 40-36 winner over SCC in the other dual meet.

Ram senior Tommy Bradshaw and junior Isaiah Yoder each went 2-0 on the evening. Bradshaw collected a forfeit vs. the Tigers at 152 lbs. for victory number 100 against just nine losses in his three seasons with the Rams. He won 33 times as a freshman in Missouri. Bradshaw’s second victory Tuesday was an impressive 16-0 technical fall over 30-4 Brody Goodman of SCC. Yoder won by fall in 4:47 over Cole Stetzel of the Tigers at 160 lbs., then collected a forfeit vs. the Titans.

Coach Sawhill only put five Rams on the varsity mat. At no point this season have the Rams filled more than seven of the 14 weight classes, which is a major factor in the team going 0-19 in dual meets.

With the home portion of the schedule completed, the Rams next go to Nevada for the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference tournament on Saturday. Action starts at 10 a.m.
