We’re nearly half way through the month of January and the three weather reporting stations in the area are on track to close in on normal monthly precipitation totals by the 31st.
According to the National Weather Service, Guthrie Center received 0.35 inch of precipitation this past week, Jefferson saw 0.37 inch and Perry received 0.4 inch.
This puts the three communities at between 0.43 and 0.6 inches of precipitation since the first of the month. Normal monthly rainfall totals are between 0.82 and 0.93 inch.
In terms of snow, the Raccoon River Valley area is behind compared to normal, registering just around a half inch of snow so far, compared to the normal 4.6 to 6.6 inches in January.
