In what has to be one of the latest home openers of the Iowa high school wrestling season, Greene County meets Heart of Iowa Activities Conference opponents Roland-Story (Story City) and North Polk (Alleman) in the middle school gym in Jefferson tonight. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team has been on the road for the first nine dates of competition this season. The Rams are 0-15 in dual meets, primarily due to low numbers and the inability to fill weight classes. Greene County has yet to fill more than half of the 14 weight classes.

The Rams hold their own of the actual matches wrestled, winning slightly more than they’ve lost for the season, but each time a dual meet forfeit takes place, it’s six points for the other team.

The only other home action for the varsity Rams is next Tuesday the 19th with non-conference opponents Guthrie Center and South Central Calhoun (Lake City). This Saturday the Rams will be in the South Hardin Invitational in Eldora.
