The Paton-Churdan boys’ basketball team has been assigned to Class 1A District 14 for the postseason by the Iowa High School Athletic Association. Coach Chris Stimson’s Rockets are 9-4 so far prior to playing at Adair-Casey tomorrow night.
A-C is also in District 14 of Class 1A, along with Audubon, CAM (Anita), Coon Rapids-Bayard, Exira/Elk Horn-Kimballton, Glidden-Ralston, Guthrie Center, IKM-Manning, and Riverside (Oakland). Next month’s District 14 winner meets the winner of District 13 in a Substate 7 game with that winner advancing to the State Tournament at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. IKM-Manning has the top record among teams in District 14 with just one loss.
District assignments for Greene County and the other Class 3A programs are expected next week. The exact postseason pairings won’t be known for a while as the IHSAA uses a seeding system for the postseason based on results of the first 15 games.
