West Central Valley girls basketball head coach Drew Stonewall’s goal was for his team to have an above .500 record heading into winter break. The Wildcats missed that goal, but just barely. Their record is 4-5.
Through 9 games, the Wildcats have scored 417 points, while allowing 428 points. The Wildcats have a lot of balance, too, with each statistical category being led by a different player. Their leading scorer is Grace Dupuy, who’s averaging nearly 11 points per game. Jennifer Dudley has been their most efficient shooter, sinking an impressive 57 percent of her field goals. Lilly Smithson is averaging a team-best 6.4 rebounds per game. Kristen Culp leads the team with 26 steals, a figure that is good enough for second best in the West Central Activities Conference.
The Wildcats will be back on the court again January 5th at Des Moines Christian.
