Tickets are still available for the upcoming production of 13 The Musical from History Boy Theatre Company in Jefferson.
The Jason Robert Brown story is about a 13 year-old boy who is uprooted by his parent’s divorce and finds himself in a brand new life in the middle of nowhere. Co-Director Robby Pedersen describes a change to how the musical comedy is typically done.
“When they did this on Broadway (in New York) they did it with 13 year-olds. It seems like everybody who picks up this show around the country and the people who are putting it on are the high schools and colleges. We’ve done a little bit of research and I think we’re the first group doing it as adults remembering what it was like to be (13 years-old).”
The cast includes new people such as Lance Harding, Julie Erickson and Whitney Olthoff from Story City. Plus returning for another History Boy performance are Yvette Bardole, Lars Skaar, David Petersen, Jon Bos and Robby, Angie and Samantha Pedersen. There will also be special appearances by Teresa Cross and Kenton Reece.
Thursday, December 31st show is sold out but there are tickets for January 1st and 2nd at 6pm and a Sunday matinee at 2pm. Tickets for the evening show are $25, which includes a meal before the show, catered by Ram Restaurant. Tickets for the Sunday matinee is $15.
