Junior guard Trey Tucker joined a short list of players in Jefferson-based boys’ basketball programs with at least 1,000 career points, but his Greene County team fell well short of a victory on Tuesday night in Gilbert. The Tigers won 87-55 to improve to 4-1 overall and in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play while the Rams are now 1-4 overall and 1-3 in the league. Tucker scored 11 of his game-high 20 points in the fourth quarter including career point 1,000 with 5:36 remaining in the fourth quarter on a free throw. He has 1,002 points entering Friday night’s contest with North Polk (Alleman) in the middle school gym in Jefferson.
Senior Max Neese was the only other Ram with double figures as he had a career night with 17 points and 12 rebounds, a statistical double-double. Senior Ryan Fleener led four Tigers who scored in double figures with 18 points.
