For the second straight game the Greene County High School girls’ basketball team scored less than 20 points. The Rams lost in Gilbert on Tuesday night 37-17 to drop to 2-4 overall and 2-3 in Heart of Iowa Activities Conference play. The Tigers improved to 6-0 in the league and 6-3 overall. KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com carried the action.
The Rams made seven of 32 field goal attempts while Gilbert was 17 of 46. Greene County went two for nine from the foul line with 30 turnovers while the Tigers were one of four shooting free throws and they turned the ball over 19 times.
Sophomore Laurin Lyons had six points and seven rebounds for Greene County and junior Kenna Marquardt added five points and 10 rebounds. Gilbert was led in scoring by Sarah Hinners with eight points.
Coach Dean Lyons’ team plays host to North Polk (Alleman) on Friday night in a girl/boy doubleheader on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
