Tis the season of giving and many people in the Perry community are going the extra mile to make sure more people have a happy holiday.
The Perry Chamber Board has adopted three children from the tree at the elementary school. Executive Director Bob Wilson says there’s a huge need for things like this and it doesn’t take a lot of time or money to really brighten up someone’s season. He hopes the program will grow in the future.
“You can go up to the elementary and they have tags on the tree up there, so you grab a couple. (Each tag) has some things that they want, some things that they need and some educational items. This is something I’d like to expand into the community, as well as the business community and chamber membership.”
Wilson says the gifts need to be wrapped and turned in to the school this week so anyone wanting to help out is encouraged to contact the elementary school as soon as possible.
