The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.
The Board approved the County Treasurer’s investment report for November of $5,468,696 and issuing 205 driver’s licenses last month. The Board also approved the satisfaction of mortgage for two properties of $12,600 and $4,089 with the downpayment assistance program.
The Board also heard several 2017 fiscal year funding requests. Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity requested $5,000, Greene County Development Corporation requested $50,000, Bell Tower Festival asked for $5,000 and a $4,500 request was made by ACCESS Assault Care Center. The Supervisors took no formal action on any of the requests.
Jefferson City Administrator Mike Palmer gave an update. He said Franks Design Group has started doing a blight survey of downtown businesses for the Community Development Block Grant application. He also pointed out that they are working on hiring a new public works director for the City.
Finally, County Engineer Wade Weiss said they are working on an initial study to verify if the Mahanay Bell Tower could support additional bells for a full carillon with the current structure. He is hoping payment for a structural engineer report would funded through the Bell Tower Community Foundation.
