Those who have been in Perry after sundown lately may have noticed some brighter lights downtown.

The city’s street department not only cleaned the globes but they also switched out 165 light bulbs on the boulevard.  Instead of 23-watt compact fluorescent bulbs, the fixtures now hold 16 watt LED lights, which gives off the equivalent of a 100-watt bulb.  It’s also a truer, white light and comes with a three-year warrantee.

The upgrade is an investment up front but the energy savings will pay for the change in just one year and nine months.

Curt’s Electric also replaced 60 of the 50-watt metal halide lights with the 16 watt LEDs, this change our will pay for itself with energy savings in just nine months.
