Tuesday, November 10th
A deputy was dispatched to the 200 block of Lawrence Street in Dana to investigate the report of someone trespassing and trying to enter a locked residence. It was later determined that the person trying to gain entry was a friend of the home owner.
A deputy was advised of a trespassing concern in Churdan.
A deputy was asked to remove a deer carcass from the roadway on Highway 4, south of Jefferson near 250th Street.
A deputy was dispatched for a car-deer accident in the 900 block of D Avenue. A 2015 Chevrolet Silverado K250 pickup that was being driven Jeffery Allen Jorgensen 54, of Ames, was traveling northbound on D Avenue (N65) when a deer ran onto the roadway and was struck by Jorgensen. Jeffery Jorgensen was not injured but his pickup sustained an estimated $4500 in damages.
A deputy was dispatched to investigate the report of a pickup truck hitting a cow along the roadway on 240th Street near F Avenue. Harvey Raymond Swartz 69, of Jefferson, was westbound on 240th Street near F Avenue when the lights of an oncoming car caused him not to see a cow standing close to the traveled portion of the roadway. Swartz stuck the cow with his 1998 Dodge pickup causing an estimated $6500 in damages. Harvey Swartz was not injured in the accident.
A deputy was asked to check the welfare of child in the 800 block of Percival Street in Grand Junction.
Wednesday, November 11th
A deputy was advised and investigated an abandoned vehicle in the ditch on 215th Street. The vehicle was later removed from the ditch.
A deputy was not able to locate a reported erratic and careless driver on Highway 4 and 280th Street.
A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Olive Street and Lincolnway.
A deputy was advised of a tree that had fallen on the bridge crossing the Raccoon River on 283rd Street. The Secondary Roads personnel were advised of the tree.
A deputy was advised of a leaning power pole south of Highway 30 on Highway 144 in Grand Junction. The Grand Junction Municipal Light and Power was advised of the pole location.
The Story County Sheriff’s Office asked a Greene County deputy to check the welfare of several persons at a residence in Grand Junction.
Thursday, November 12th
A deputy assisted the Grand Junction Rescue and Greene County Emergency Medical Services with a medical call in the 400 block of Main Street in Grand Junction.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
