The Nebraska Cornhuskers are in the midst of a disappointing first season under head coach Mike Riley, but former all-state ADM standout Lane Hovey has been one of few bright spots for the Huskers. The 6’4 walk-on receiver is listed as a 4th year junior, and has become a regular part of the Nebraska offense this fall.
This past Saturday the Huskers traveled to Ross-Ade Stadium to take on Purdue, and trailing 42-16 heading to the 4th quarter, they desperately needed a score. On the 1st play of the quarter, Hovey hauled in his first career touchdown reception on a 17 yard pass from Ryker Fyfe. He finished the game with 2 catches for 32 yards and a score. Hovey has now registered 10 receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown on the year.
Hovey and the 3-6 Huskers will host Michigan State this Saturday at 6:00 pm on ESPN.
