Perry High School is preparing for their annual Veterans Day Celebration next week.
It’s a day full of events in honor of those who have served our country.
The festivities kick off with a complementary breakfast at Hy-Vee from 6-10am where all veterans, active service, national guard and reserve personnel can eat for free.
Morning refreshments will then be served in the high school library from 8am until 8:45 thanks to the Dallas County Hospital.
The 27th annual Veterans Day Panel Discussion will then begin at 9:00 in the Perry Performing Arts Center. It will feature Mahlon Conaway and Tom South who both served during WWII, along with Korean War veterans Bob Peterson and Dick Schoesmith.
The 18th annual Veterans Day Celebration then starts at 10am and incudes readings, musical sections, video presentations and special recognition.
The high school will then serve a luncheon in the gymnasium, followed by a complimentary soup dinner at the American Legion Building, sponsored by Post 85.
The celebration is a cooperative effort between the high school’s Bluejay Congress, the social studies and student activities departments, along with the local American Legion and VFW.
