The ADM volleyball team ended the regular season in dramatic fashion Thursday night in Adel, defeating No. 10 Carroll in come-from-behind fashion in five sets.
ADM (20-16) came out of the gate firing on all cylinders, taking set No. 1 from Carroll, 25-12. Carroll then won the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-17, to take a 2-1 lead in sets.
But ADM rediscovered its solid play from the first set, taking set No. 4 25-18, and outlasting Carroll in the fifth and final set, 19-17.
The win put ADM at 5-2 in Raccoon River Conference play for the season. Despite the loss, Carroll (25-10) won the conference at 6-1 against league opponents.
ADM brings momentum into the postseason, having won six of its last seven matches, including a 5-1 showing at the Knoxville tournament on Saturday.
But ADM will have to wait a week to get back on the court because the team secured a first-round playoff bye. ADM will play the winner of Lewis Central and Carroll in the second round of the Class 4A Region 3 playoffs on Thursday, Oct. 29 at Lewis Central High School in Council Bluffs.
