MeLinda Madison-Millard is a first-time candidate running for the at-large seat on the Jefferson City Council.
She has lived in Jefferson for four years and is the co-founder of “A Token of Love” donor awareness, non-profit organization. She also serves as a certified volunteer for the Iowa Donor Network. She describes a couple of reasons why she wants to run for city council.
“There’s the need that I can bring, which is by being there for the community and for the citizens of our great City that we live in. Because too often, sometimes those citizens that are afraid to speak up don’t have somebody there for them.”
Madison-Millard points out that she would like to see area veterans get more recognition and allow the First Responders to go out on emergency calls.
“There’s a block to where the First Responders don’t get those calls. And if they got the calls and be able to utilize their skills that they have the training for, just maybe there might be more lives saved.”
She would also like to have meet-and-greet events for the public to interact with council members as well as provide refreshments at council meetings.
