Greene County Medical Center Public Health Registered Nurse Laine Custer was recently honored as an Iowa Hospital Association’s “Iowa Hospital Hero.”

The award is given to an Iowa hospital employee or physician who performs a heroic deed or tirelessly gives their time, talent and expertise to improve their organization or the world around them.

Custer has worked in the public health department for over 23 years and continues to provide services to help treat and mentor individuals in healthcare.  Along with her work in public health, she is also a health occupation instructor at Greene County High School, a master trainer for the “Matter of Balance” fall prevention classes and she leads the Psychological First Aid Training courses.  She is also a DAISY Award winner last November for her extraordinary patient care.

Public Health Director Becky Wolf says Custer is certainly deserving of the Iowa Hospital Hero award and is someone she would desire to care for her loved ones.

Custer was recognized at the IHA annual meeting earlier this month.
