Greene County Supervisors 10_26The Greene County Board of Supervisors met yesterday in regular session.

The Board approved Chuck Wenthold as the County Environmental Health and Zoning Administrator, following the retirement of Tim Healy.  The Board also approved an excessive force resolution for a Community Development Block Grant for Scranton Manufacturing as presented.

Mark Land with Schneider and Associates spoke to the Supervisors about joining a 28E agreement for Beaver Creek Management Authority.  There are 26 jurisdictions involved, seven of whom have already given their approval.  The Board took no action on the item, pending more information.

Midwest Partnership Executive Director Sarah Gomez gave an update to the Board.  She said over 200 people attended their Employer/Educator Summit last month and they received a grant to deliver cookies to all the manufacturers in their four county region to recognize October as National Manufacturing Month.  The next Entre-Bash will be in March and Midwest Partnership’s annual dinner is scheduled for January 28th.

The Board then discussed the county’s health insurance policy with MacDonald Insurance.  The Supervisors were presented with two proposals.  If they stay with Wellmark, their current insurance carrier, rates will increase by 14 percent for the next fiscal year.  Another proposal from Cypress will keep the rates the same and not have an increase in payments.  The Board is expected to take action on the topic at next week’s meeting.

During open forum, the Board agreed to have another joint discussion with Webster County Supervisors to sign a final agreement for Iowa Department of Transportation’s bridge replacement project within drainage district’s 156 and 315.  County Engineer Wade Weiss spoke to the Board about what parts of the Mahanay Bell Tower is the county responsible for and what parts are the Bell Tower Community Foundation responsible for.  No action was taken on the topic.
